Five Adult Education Nursing faculty, including the Director of Nursing, participated in training on two recently acquired patient simulators. The simulators assist nursing students in learning new skills and honing their clinical judgement abilities. With Noelle, the maternity simulator, students can participate in the labor and delivery process, as well as care for complications arising with the mom or the baby. HAL is a 5-year old pediatric simulator. Both come with a patient monitor for assessing vital signs and EKGs. Students interact by asking questions, performing assessments, and providing care. The simulators can respond verbally or change their physical findings based upon the actions of the students. Noelle and HAL join two other high technology simulators in the Adult Education nursing lab.
