The purpose of the Electrical program is to provide a basic core of instruction and practical lab experience to prepare students for employment in electrical trades. Electricians may choose to work in residential and/or commercial electrical construction or industrial electrical maintenance.

Accreditation:

The Miami Valley CTC Electrical Trades program follows the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum. Upon successful completion, students earn NCCER certification. NCCER’s process of instructor certification, standardized curriculum, assessment, student certification, and the national registry is an industry leader for adult workforce education.

Program Goals:

• Demonstrate electrical safety practices
• Calculate load in various systems
• Knowledge of motor control and relay logic
• Learn programmable controllers and ladder logic
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical devices, components, and equipment
• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, blueprint reading, and wiring diagrams
