“MVCTC was a life-changing experience. Prior to enrolling at MVCTC I felt ignored, unimportant, and often teachers assumed I would not go to college. At some point I started to believe those things. However, during my time at MVCTC, I was in several leadership roles and organizations which gave me the confidence I needed to believe in myself. Additionally, I had instructors that believed in me and showed me alternative paths to success. Specifically, Ms. Rebbecca Frost who often told me stories of attending the University of Kentucky and ultimately becoming a nurse and an educator. She took the time to get to know me and my goals and showed me how to reach them. Well after graduation she wrote a letter of recommendation for acceptance into Midway's Nursing Program and Xavier University's Master's program. Having someone believe in you with sincerity can make all the difference in the world. The teachers at MVCTC worked hard to show students this every day. In addition to the ambition I developed as a student at MVCTC, I also learned practical skills, which helped me work to pay for college and gave me a head start in nursing school. Because of MVCTC I have had the opportunity to see healthcare from a multitude of perspectives. Having worked as a nursing assistant, home health aide, RN, Healthcare Leadership, and health educator. My experiences as a student at MVCTC has now come full circle as a nurse and educator myself. Knowing how much believing in a student can change their lives, I used what I learned at MVCTC to try and do the same for students every day.”
