MVCTC BPA Chapter Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Boot Camp

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Business Professionals of America (BPA) Chapter celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Annual Boot Camp on Tuesday, November 7, in honors of Veterans Day. The BPA Boot Camp consists of an obstacle course with four different challenges. In addition, students also participated in patriotic musical performances to honor Veterans Day. 

 

The BPA chapter officers for the 2017-2018 school year are:

  • President – Alison Pierce (Business Ownership) Wayne
  • Vice President – Logan Hayes (Sports Marketing and Management) Miami East
  • Secretary –  Jessica North (Sports Marketing and Management) Eaton
  • Treasurer – Kaitlin Thompson (Business Ownership) Arcanum
  • Public Relations –  James Bucio (Computer Network Engineering) West Carrollton
  • Parliamentarian – Morelia Balli (Medical Office Management) Huber Heights
  • Historian – Parker Matson (Sports Marketing and Management) Northmont

 

The meeting opened with the National Anthem, which was performed by Christian Vincent (Huber Heights) and Morelia Balli (Huber Heights) whom are both in from the Medical Office Program. Morelia Balli also made Boot Camp history by becoming the first student to be a Boot Camp competitor two years in a row, a musical performer for two acts, and a BPA Officer. In addition, fellow BPA Officer Kaitlan Thompson (Arcanum) was recognized during the meeting for her achievement of being elected as the 2017-2018 BPA State Treasurer at the BPA Leadership Conference that was held in Columbus.    

 

Later in the meeting, three musical acts were performed by three different students. The first student that performed was Morelia Balli singing “American The Beautiful”. Chloe Holicki (Medical Office Management/Miami East) then sang “American Honey”. Lastly, Christian Vincent sang “God Bless America” concluding the musical performances. After an intense and truly spectacular competition between each of the programs, Sports Marketing and Management was crowned the victor of the 10th annual Boot Camp X Competition.       

 

Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.

 

What started almost 50 years ago as the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School (JVS) has transformed into the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC). While the name has changed, the mission remains the same. MVCTC is dedicated to providing training for in-demand jobs and college-readiness skills for high school and adult students across Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren Counties.
