MVCTC Class of 2019 Ready for Success

Dayton, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Class of 2019 scholarship winners were announced on Friday, May 17, during the Senior Recognition Ceremony at the Wright State Nutter Center. 620 students qualified with grades and attendance to participate in the Senior Recognition Ceremony and receive their Career Passport. The Career Passport is awarded to students that complete their MVCTC career program with good grades, good attendance, and the ability to demonstrate competencies in their career program. The Career Passport complements the high school diploma that is earned while at MVCTC. Students receive their high school diploma from the partner school district they attend.
In addition to awarding Career Passports during the Senior Recognition Ceremony, several MVCTC students were recipients of the 2019 MVCTC Department, Foundation, and Employee Association scholarships. The students receiving scholarships include:
- Cameron Willis, Computer Network Engineering student from Valley View, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Academics Department Scholarship
- Josiah Allan, Natural Resource Management student from Tipp City, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Agriculture Department Scholarship
- Cameron McCormick, Computer Repair & Technical Support student from Northridge, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Business & Information Technology Department Scholarship
- Melaney Stewart, Health Careers-Medical Careers student from Northmont, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Health & Consumer Sciences Department Scholarship
- Zacheriah Polster, Veterinary Science student from Brookville, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Math & Science Department Scholarship
- Jackson Trottier, Welding student from Northmont, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Trade & Industry - East Department Scholarship
- Jacob Nijak, Criminal Justice student from Miamisburg, recipient of $500 MVCTC Foundation Trade & Industry - South Department Scholarship
- Harley Danes, Allied Health student from Northmont, recipient of $500 MVCTC Employee Association Scholarship
- Alexis Davis, Cosmetology student from Milton-Union, recipient of $500 MVCTC Employee Association Scholarship
- Natalie Aviles Torres, Veterinary Science student from West Carrollton, recipient of $2,000 MVCTC Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship
- Riley Cruse, Early Childhood Education student from Tri-County North, recipient of $2,000 MVCTC Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship
- Collin Williams, Graphic Commercial Art student from Vandalia-Butler, recipient of $2,000 MVCTC Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship
- Cameron Willis, Computer Network Engineering student from Valley View, recipient of $2,000 MVCTC Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship
- Derek Winner, Precision Machining student from Brookville, recipient of $2,000 MVCTC Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship
- Caleb Boyd, Computer Network Engineering student from Miamisburg, recipient of $1,000 MVCTC Superintendent Scholarship
The 2019 MVCTC Valedictorians are as follows:
- Angel Adams - Adams was in the Early Childhood Education program at MVCTC. She plans on attending Miami University in Oxford for a major in Social Studies/Math Middle Childhood Education. Adams earned the Miami Redhawk Excellence Scholarship, Miami University Redhawk Grant, Federal TEACH Grant, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Adams is the daughter of Daniel and Anissa Adams of Farmersville.
- Riley Cruse – Cruse was in the Early Childhood Education program at MVCTC. She plans to attend Heidelberg University to major in Early Childhood Education and Special Intervention. Cruse earned a scholarship totaling $120,800 to Heidelberg University, Treva & Robert Sidle Scholarship, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Cruse will be playing softball as well for Heidelberg next year. She is the daughter of Robert and Lynda Cruse of Brookville.
- Kasie Durham – Durham was in the Health Careers program at MVCTC. She plans to attend Morehead State University to study Nursing. Durham plans to use the STNA certification she earned at MVCTC to work while attending college. Durham received the Morehead State University Merit Scholarship totaling $40,000, Bethel Alumni Scholarship, United States Bowling Congress Scholarship, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. She is the daughter of James and Dawnyel Durham from Tipp City.
- Tessah Knisley – Knisley was in the Computer Network Engineering program at MVCTC. She plans to continue her education in college, studying Cyber Security. Knisley earned the Valedictorian Scholarship at Wright State totaling $37,000, Dean’s Scholarship to DePaul University totaling $76,000, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Knisley is the daughter of Michael and Sonya Knisley of Arcanum.
- Lillian Pietrzak – Pietrzak was in the Medical Office Management program at MVCTC. She plans to attend Sinclair. Pietrzak earned National Technical Honor Society Scholarship and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. She is the daughter of Adam and Aimee Pietrzak of Brookville.
- Cameron Willis – Willis was in the Computer Network Engineering program at MVCTC. He plans to attend college to major in Computer Science and Secondary Education with a focus in Mathematics. Willis earned the Bowling Green Freshman Academic Scholarship totaling $20,000, Bowling Green Thompson Working Families Scholarship totaling $20,000, MVCTC Academics Department Scholarship, Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship, Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Willis is the son of Mark and Melissa Willis of Germantown.
- Derek Winner – Winner was in the Precision Machining program at MVCTC. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dayton. Winner earned the Valedictorian Scholarship at Wright State totaling $43,000, Trustee’s Merit Scholarship to the University of Dayton totaling $145,280, Lincoln Tech Scholarship, Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship, National Technical Honor Society Scholarship, and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship Winner is the son of Dale and Denise Winner of Brookville.
The 2019 MVCTC Salutatorians are:
- Elizabeth Jones - Jones was in the Health Careers program at MVCTC. She plans to attend Sinclair majoring in nursing while working as an STNA. She earned the National Technical Honor Society Scholarship and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Jones’ goals are to obtain her BSN and work in a hospital. She is the daughter of Sean and Tammy Jones of New Paris.
- Kathryn Trout – Trout was in the Digital Design program at MVCTC. She plans to attend college at Sinclair and pursue a career as a multimedia designer. She earned the National Technical Honor Society Scholarship and Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship. Trout is the daughter of Greg and Pam Trout of Carlisle.
In total, over $4.1 million worth of scholarships were earned by the MVCTC Class of 2019. This includes 784 students earning a $3,000 Tech Prep Scholarship to Sinclair Community College, totaling over $2.3 million.
