Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) juniors in the HVAC and Welding programs visited the Sheet Metal Training Center in Dayton on January 23. This great opportunity allowed students to learn more about pre-apprenticeship and the amazing careers available in the sheet metal industry.
The Sheet Metal Training Center representatives stated, “The Miami Valley Career Technology Center has some great programs and bright students. When MVCTC couldn’t make it down to our training center during National Apprenticeship Week in November, we made sure to circle back. We invited Juniors, who are currently in the HVAC and Welder programs, to come out, have breakfast and get hands-on with our tools and technology. Thanks to Mike Tipton retired sheet metal worker, Josh Moorehouse SMW journeyman, Michael Tipton Business Rep for Local 24 and Joe Williams with our local SMACNA Chapter for helping with this event. Special thanks also goes to Rieck Services for allowing Josh Moorehouse a SMW journeyman to come out and address these students. Josh was a former student at MVCTC in the HVAC program and was part of the School to Apprenticeship program.”
MVCTC instructors, Doug Clark (HVAC Instructor), Lee Nelson (Welding Instructor), and Robert Ewry (MVCTC Apprenticeships Coordinator) spearheaded the visit and shared the value of Apprenticeship programs.
