Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology (MVCTC) Dental Assisting senior, Amanda Duffy, has made the most of her time at MVCTC, serving as a SkillsUSA Chapter 1 Officer, Student Leadership Council representative, recently tapped to be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society Class of 2020, and will be competing at the State SkillsUSA Competition in April as part of the Southwest Regional First Place Opening and Closing Ceremony Team.
Amanda also earned her Certified Ohio Dental Assisting (CODA) license this school year and is now working as part of the MVCTC Work-Based Learning Advanced Placement program for Smile Innovations in Fairborn as a Dental Assistant. Her job responsibilities include assisting the dentist, sterilization, infection control, and general chairside assisting.
Amanda shared, “MVCTC is a life-changing experience. Without this school, I would never be where I am. I have been thoroughly prepared for my future and my upcoming career. Not only has this educationally helped me, but has also given me irreplaceable friendships and connections.”
Amanda plans to attend Youngstown State Univesity after high school to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene.
Amanda is the daughter of Thomas and Julie Duffy of Carlisle.
