Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) seniors in the Retail Agriculture Services Program recently completed a woodworking project of building cedar bird feeders. These were constructed from cedar and plexiglass during their related class under the supervision of Mr. Bill Hershburger. The activity taught the students to read plans, measure lumber, drill holes, use a band saw, and miter saw as well as various hand tools.
Eva Wiley, MVCTC Retail Agriculture Services Instructor, stated, "We plan to have a feeder as one of the items for the MVCTC FFA Alumni Silent Auction during our FFA banquet on April 23. Proceeds from the silent auction go to the MVCTC FFA Alumni to help defray chapter activity costs and member scholarships. Students enjoyed learning new skills that could lead to additional job skills or even a new hobby."
