Veronica attended Wilberforce University and the University of Dayton after her high school graduation and earned her:
Mrs. Geroge shared, "I am an awarded teacher with a passion for writing. I am currently an English Language Arts (12th grade), Reading Lab teacher (9-10), and Career Exploration teacher at the award-winning art school Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio. I have been teaching since 2002 and started my career at Wilbur Wright Middle School for two years, then Belmont High School (2004-2017), and now Stivers School for the Arts (2017-Present).
I have a blog named Ms. George's Class (https://msgeorgesclass.com) where I write about teaching strategies I used within my classroom
MVCTC allowed me to pursue my dream of being a cosmetologist while earning my teaching degree. When I was a young girl, I loved doing hair. I combined doing hair with my passion for teaching and writing. MVCTC gave me the confidence to apply for my dream. I was surprised when I was accepted into the cosmetology program because I remembered Ms. Lovin stating it was very competitive to get accepted into the program. I jumped for joy when I received my acceptance letter. I felt that I could do anything, and I did. I was accepted into several colleges and universities. My cousin had graduated from Tennessee State University, and during a college visit, I saw that the university had a salon on campus. I was impressed, and I was on a mission to pay for college while working as a cosmetologist. Fortunately, I attended Wilberforce University, the same university from which both of my parents had graduated. I worked at Fiesta and SuperCuts while attending college.
In 2018, I restored my cosmetologist license and worked at two local haircutting salons to pay my student loans. I worked for one year and was able to pay $20,000 towards my student loans. I was able to make an hourly wage and tips to pay off debt. MVCTC has always been dear to my heart, and I am a proud alumna. It's affordable and life-changing. I started a trend within my family to attend MVCTC. My cousin, Melissa (Sanders) Cantrell '99, attended CTC's nursing program and became a school nurse, and now my little cousin Lovelle Williamson attends MVCTC learning to be an aircraft mechanic. I suggest anyone looking for a trade school to apply to MVCTC while in high school to gain an affordable and quality education."
