Englewood, Ohio –Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Biotechnology students submitted written work for the Ohio Youth Institute. This year five students proposed solutions to world issues and how to use science and research to help solve them. MVCTC Biotechnology Class of 2022 student, Amaya Davidson from Preble Shawnee was selected to represent Ohio at the Global Youth Institute.
Per the World Food Prize Foundation www.worldfoodprize.org “Each year, over 200 exceptional high school students from around the world are selected to participate in the three-day Global Youth Institute hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation.
Selected students and their teachers/mentors travel to Des Moines, Iowa, in mid-October to attend this exciting three-day event at which they interact with Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates and discuss pressing food security and agricultural issues with international experts.
During the conference, student delegates present and discuss their findings with international experts and their peers, connect with other students from around the world, tour cutting-edge industrial and research facilities, and take part in symposium discussions with global leaders in science, industry, and policy.”
MVCTC Biotechnology instructor, Jennifer Foudray stated, “This is a huge honor as they only select around eight students from the state to represent Ohio!”
