Englewood, Ohio- Summertime doesn’t stop these MVCTC students from being busy. From June 27 through July 1, 2022, 17 MVCTC FFA members attended the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum. FFA Camp is a chance for members from the state of Ohio to connect, enhance their leadership abilities, learn new skills, and make new friends, all while putting time toward their State FFA Degree.
During their five-day, four-night stay, campers enjoyed camp activities such as swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, shooting at the rifle/ shotgun ranges, archery, and various sports. In addition, campers learned leadership and communication skills and participated in small and large group discussions while enjoying the outdoors. Campers enjoyed numerous activities like the water games and the camp dance!
Senior and grad students got the opportunity to enjoy the high ropes course, an obstacle course in the air! These campers also took time to participate in camp staff-led workshops.
The letters “FFA” originally stood for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners, and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.
Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers, and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too.
