Englewood, Ohio- This past August, Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) FFA held its annual camp out at the pond. This event is a great way to get new FFA members involved and get to know one another within the chapter.
The night kicked off when campers arrived between 5:00-7:00 p.m. on the MVCTC campus. Students received help moving their gear back to the pond, where they were encouraged to fish and set up their tents.
The officers kicked things off with an icebreaker game. Then went into small group led games which included cheese ball toss, giant twister, hula hoop competition, bad mitten, captains coming, and a relay race!
Students also participated in a big group game of captains coming and the camp dance. The night ended with s’mores and enjoying the bonfire.
Students were then sent off at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast in hand to head home.
“Thank you to all that came! We had a very fun night. We encourage others to come next year! “
The letters “FFA” originally stood for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners, and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.
Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers, and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too
For 50 years, MVCTC has provided career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties, including Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren counties.
