Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Youth Connections students attended a seminar presented by MVCTC Adult Education Career Advisor, Ms. Samantha Myers, on Thursday, September 29.
Mrs. Myers shared opportunities available in Adult Education for students. They learned about the available career programs, and certifications offered and had a chance to ask questions about how to pursue further career training after completing the Youth Connection program.
"I think our students are great candidates for adult education opportunities, especially the short-term certificate programs. They need to know they have options other than getting a full-time job right away or going to college after they graduate. It could be life-changing for some of them," stated Youth Connections Social Studies Instructor, Mrs. Debbie Carter.
The MVCTC Youth Connections is an alternative educational program serving thirty-two Miami Valley school districts. Youth Connections targets students who are:
Youth Connections is based on instruction in a small personal setting with great flexibility and a curriculum that will allow students to receive their high school diploma and gain skills necessary to lead to long-term employment. All students enrolled in Youth Connections are a part of the Career Based Intervention (CBI) program.
For 50 years, MVCTC has provided career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties, including Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren counties. MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
