Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) News - January 30, 2024
In a remarkable achievement, Griffen Jung (Miamisburg) and Elli Earwood (Franklin Monroe), students in the Natural Resource Management program at Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC), have been working on a long-term research project focusing on stream quality. Their study involves analysis of fish populations and dissolved oxygen levels in local streams, aiming to shed light on environmental health and conservation efforts.
The dedication demonstrated by Griffen and Elli in their research has not gone unnoticed. Their project was selected to be showcased at the 64th Ohio Wildlife Management Association conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Griffen and Elli presented their findings during the conference's Poster Session. Their achievement is even more remarkable because they were the only high school students among a lineup of college students and industry professionals presenting at the event.
"We are incredibly proud of Griffen and Elli for this outstanding accomplishment," said Joe Beringer, Natural Resource Management Instructor at MVCTC. "
The Ohio Wildlife Management Association(formerly Ohio Fish and Wildlife Management Association) was established in 1950 to preserve Ohio's diverse wildlife for future generations.
