Arcanum-MVCTC FFA Satellite Members Take First in National Competition
The Arcanum-MVCTC FFA Chapter recently achieved remarkable success at the Big E, Eastern State Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, a premier event that features the FFA Eastern Regional Competitions. Competing against the top qualifiers from 15 states, the chapter excelled in the Career Development Event (CDE) for Farm Business Management.
The team, consisting of Ethan Hartman, Katelynne Michael, Carrie Denlinger, and Landon Miller, earned first place in this highly competitive environment. During the event, participants completed individual tests that encompassed business principles, finance, and taxation, followed by a collaborative activity where they addressed real-world business challenges. Notably, Ethan Hartman also distinguished himself by securing second place as an individual competitor. This impressive performance not only highlights the Arcanum-MVCTC team's capabilities but also contributes to Ohio FFA’s overall victory in the Big E Sweepstakes.
Twin Valley South FFA Member Competes for 2024 National Agricultural Proficiency Awards
Ryan McRill of the Twin Valley South-MVCTC FFA Chapter has been recognized as a national finalist for the Swine Production-Placement Agricultural Proficiency Award. Out of numerous applicants nationwide, only four FFA members are chosen in each proficiency area, underscoring Ryan’s exceptional dedication and achievement.
Ryan's Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) involves his role at Camden Feeder Pigs, a 1,600-sow breed-to-wean operation. Since 2020, he has gained invaluable experience through various responsibilities, including caring for sows and piglets, feeding, and maintaining sanitation in the barns. His commitment has enabled him to transition from part-time to full-time employment after graduating in 2023.
Milton Union-MVCTC FFA Satellite Competes in Soil Judging CDE
Milton Union-MVCTC FFA Chapter members recently participated in the Miami County Soil Judging CDE. This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world situations. The team is now preparing for the upcoming District 5 Soil Judging CDE. Featured students include Sophia Blackburn, Madilyn Keys, Emersyn Freisthler, Khloe Wertz, Tessah Perkins, Penelope Bobic, Danie Ellis, Addison Willis, Kyle Wintrow, and Luke Jones.
National Trail-MVCTC Satellite FFA Members Participate in Soil Judging
FFA members from National Trail-MVCTC have been diligently preparing for the soil judging contest. Recently, they participated in the county soils contest hosted by the Preble County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), dedicating countless hours outside of school to sharpen their skills. National Trail-MVCTC Satellite Students Drawing Different Types of Sketches
In Mrs. Kennel’s Project Lead The Way (PLTW) class, students have been exploring various engineering drawing techniques. They’ve been able to apply their skills practically, enhancing their understanding of engineering principles. Sam Johnson is pictured demonstrating his skills in this area.
Tri-County North-MVCTC FFA Satellite Places at County Soils
Under the guidance of Mrs. Cox, 28 FFA members from Tri-County North-MVCTC participated in the Preble County Rural CDE Contest, where they proudly placed third overall in the Rural Soils Team category. Several members also achieved individual recognition: Taylor Flora placed second, Travis Williamson sixth, Jeffery Ricketts ninth, and Madison Bondurant tenth. Other notable performances came from Nick Meyer, Lola Grieshop, Madelyn North, Luke Wright, and Addie Clearmont.
