03/01/2016

Englewood, Ohio –Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Early Childhood Juniors, Abigail Adkins (Eaton), Kylah Colbert (Huber Heights), and Courtney Strohmenger (Tri-Village), volunteered hours at the YWCA in Dayton which is a confidential domestic violence and sexual assault service provider in Montgomery and Preble counties. They serve the Miami Valley by offering a wide variety of programs including prevention, intervention, education, advocacy and clinical services. They had a clothing drive which included donations of every size male and female alike. They also participated in the Christmas party by buying gifts for the children who are staying there until they can afford housing on their own. They also had a community book drive where they donated over 400 books of various literature. They also volunteer their own time each week to do arts and crafts with the younger children.

The FCCLA Leadership Service in Action program guides students to develop, plan, carry out, and evaluate projects that improve the quality of life in their communities.

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
